Show Notes:

As promised, here is the second-half of the double-edged sword that is feminine style rhetoric. Because feminine style is all about taking a collaborative, team approach, if you aren’t in sync with your audience, there will be consequences.

I’m using Sheryl Sandberg’s book, Lean In as a case study for understanding the pitfalls that are easy to fall into when using feminine style rhetoric.

At the end of the day (or this episode!) the over-arching advice from all of this is: take time to think about the way you use your words.

This is how we make big changes— by making small ones, first.

In this episode:

  • How inclusive language can go wrong (2:43)

  • Misaddressing feminism with tokenism (5:27)

  • Multiple perspectives matter (6:55)

  • Gender stereotypes in our speech (8:50)
